Homework and Happenings

Report cards go home today!  

Reading logs are due on Monday.  Be sure to add up your minutes and include your first and last name.

Math  -

  • Finish homework worksheet if not finished in class
  • Our test is tentatively scheduled for Friday, 1/17.

Word Study

  • Words for next week can be found in the word study tab.
  • The children should have copied all words/definitions today so that they can begin studying. Because of our in-school field trip next week on Friday, 1/17, we will move the master the meaning to Wednesday and spelling/dictation to Thursday.  

Science (Morand's Class)

  • Sum of Parts Test - Tuesday, 1/14 - Study your notes and review the paper we did in class today!
  • I am once again asking for your help with some items for science activities and experiments.  We'll be making pancakes to illustrate a chemical OR physical change (Do you know which it is?), trail mix and kool-aid to illustrate mixtures and solutions.  I'm asking each family to help with one item or a $3 donation, if possible.  If not, please just let me know and I'll make other plans.  I appreciate your help!  Letters with the item requested went home Wednesday!  In addition, we are going to need color comic strips from the newspaper or comic books.  If you get the Sunday paper and could send in the comic section, we'd appreciate it!!!

      Homework and Happenings

      No School on Tuesday, January 7th!  Enjoy your extra day off - stay warm!

      In math, we'll begin work on dividing fractions by whole numbers and whole numbers by fractions.  5th grade curriculum does not include dividing fraction by fractions.  Our test will probably be next Friday, 1/17.

      We will not have word work this week since it's ended up being a short week.  The children will get the word list and definitions on Friday so that they can get an early start.
