Math

• Homework: p.489-490 problems 6-13, in math workbook (also available online via the student portal)
• Study multiplication facts, if needed. We'll practice this week and take a timed test for a grade on Friday.

Word Study

• Study second 5 words (spelling and definitions).
• Master the Meaning - Thursday (classwork grade); Spelling and Dictation - Friday (test grade)
• The word list is available on the word study tab, if needed.

Science

• No homework.
• We will have an activity on Thursday, 8/14, in which children will need an electronic device with a QR reader (most QR reader apps are free). I sent home an Electronics Liability Release form in the Friday folder. IF your child has a device at home with a QR reader (or you don't mind downloading the app) and IF you don't mind your child bringing the device to school on Thursday, please fill out the paper and return it to school before Thursday. Children may bring devices on Thursday, 8/14.
• Classification test on Thursday, 8/21. Children that want to get a head start on studying may study the 6 kingdom graphic organizer and the vocabulary.

Reading Log

• Fill in your reading log each night. Turn reading log in on Mondays.

Other

On Monday, I'll send home an August reading log.  Reading logs are due each Monday!  Children should be reading 30 minutes every night.  Parents, please sign your child's reading log and help them remember to return it to school on Mondays.

Friday, August 8

Please note that CRCT scores were sent home in Friday folders.  Additionally, please find the bookmark for the schoolwide reading program (due 8/29).

We did not send home choice cards this week.  Classroom behavior was very good for our first week of school!  What an awesome class we have.  Please empty papers and return the Friday folder on Monday.

First Day of School

We had a GREAT first day of school!  I really enjoyed getting to know your children!  We have a terriffic group of children in our class.  I'll post pictures later of some of our activities from today!

First day homework:  Follow the directions on the sheet I gave you and visit the parent/student handbook.  Remember you are writing 7 good sentences/facts from the pages listed.

Also, if you don't already have a sticky note from Open House with 5 words that describe you written by a parent, please get a parent to do that for you tonight!
