              Math  -

              • Many children need to review the fourth grade fraction skills.  We've spent last week very quickly reviewing and it is evident that some children still need more help with these skills.  We did a check-up Friday that I'll probably not put in the grade book, but will ask for children to have a parent signature if the score is below a 75 so that you are aware of your child's progress.  I handed these out yesterday in my second math class.  If the paper comes home, PLEASE take the time to have your child make corrections and review those with him/her. There is plenty of practice in the math book - chapter 13 and step by step directions in their journal.  Retake will be tomorrow for class 2.
              • No math homework (unless a signature is required on fraction paper).

Tuesday we'll have our behavior reward activity (movie with snacks and drinks) for any children who earned 3 or less checks on their choice card this nine weeks.  I am so proud of the children that made an extra effort to have great conduct and work habits.  Starting Tuesday, we start with a clean slate!  I'd love for ALL children to get to go to the reward activity!  We've had a lot of conversations lately about good and appropriate behavior in the classroom, cafe, and hall.  Furthermore, we've discussed being ready and responsible for classes.  Children should gather the things that they need when switching classes (pencil, notebook, homework, etc.) so that they are ready to learn!  Mrs. Upchurch and I have let the children have this first nine weeks to adjust and get used to our routines.  At this point, children should be responsible and will be asked to sign their choice card if they have to return to their homeroom for forgotten materials.  The best help for children is an organized binder!  The children should have their homework and pencil pouch in their binder.  If they take that with them, then they've got almost everything they need!!!
