On Thursday, October 31st, our fifth graders will be participating in a math activity that involves the use of pumpkins. We are asking each child to bring in $2.00 for the purchase of pumpkins. The teachers will purchase the pumpkins for the students. This will alleviate any issues with the pumpkins being transported on the buses. Please have the donation to your homeroom teacher no later than Monday, Oct. 28th.
Math -
- Shop Till You Drop, Project Part 1 - Use the sale ad to create a grade-level appropriate multi-step word problem involving decimals. Grade-level appropriate means that it should not only have addition, but also some multiplication or simple division. Below is an example of a good project from last year. On Monday, 10/7, the multi-step problem and step-by-step labeled solution is due. Problems may be hand written or may be typed - children's preference, but will need to be typed or written very neatly for the final project. Next week, we will go over part two of the project which will involve putting the problem, solution, and pictures from the sales ad into a foldable and adding titles, labels, etc.
