Homework and Happenings

Math  -

  • Homework:  PW p. 32
  • Check-up/Classwork grade tomorrow over what we've learned this week:
    • Multiplying by powers of ten (see pages 128-131 in text and especially journal)
    • Using decimal models to multiply (text pages 132-133 and journal)
    • Multiplying decimals (text pages 134 -139 and journal)
  • Shop Till You Drop, Project Part 1 - Use the sale ad to create a grade-level appropriate multi-step word problem involving decimals.   Grade-level appropriate means that it should not only have addition, but also some multiplication or simple division.  Below is an example of a good project from last year.  On Monday, 10/7, the multi-step problem and step-by-step labeled solution is due. Problems may be hand written or may be typed - children's preference, but will need to be typed or written very neatly for the final project.  Next week, we will go over part two of the project which will involve putting the problem, solution, and pictures from the sales ad into a foldable and adding titles, labels, etc.
  • Journal check - next week

Word Study

  • Review words for spelling and dictation test tomorrow! This will be our last word study grade of the nine weeks.

Science -

  • Finish cell drawing if not finished in class (due Friday)
  • Cell Test, tomorrow (study guide went home Tuesday)
  • Edible cell projects were fantastic!  Thank you, parents, for your help on this project!  The children REALLY enjoyed it!!!

Grammar -

  • Homework:  workbook pages 109 & 110
